I am pleased to share that I completed a new SATB choral work using this traditional Irish blessing. I had wanted to set music to this text for quite some time, but it took some patience with finding the right kind of music that felt right. This work will be available from JW Pepper and other distributors by the end of this week.

Back in 2017, I met guitarist Greg Yorba in Fullerton, California. He introduced me to something called the guitar orchestra, which was an ensemble he performed in. Totally new to this type of ensemble, he encouraged me to write a new work for this medium. The first work I wrote was titled In Motion, and Greg said he wished the piece was longer. While I did not intend to write a longer version, I instead wanted to create a new work based off the original motive. I was looking forward to sharing this new music with him, but unfortunately, I learned Greg had passed around the same time I was finishing this piece. I dedicate this piece to Greg.

I’m very excited to share that this new work for string orchestra is going to be available next week. I have wanted to write a work in this style for a long time. Also, there will be another version of this completed in April for SATB choir & strings. The work is inspired by this one line: “To see that everything is changing around you, means something inside you is never changing.”

As time permits, I plan on releasing an ongoing series of music education videos that will contain some of the valuable lessons I have learned over many years. The first episode focuses on my journey of how I developed absolute pitch.
